DVD Review: “Derailed”

RELEASED: 2006
DIRECTOR: Mikael Håfström
STARRING: Clive Owen, Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston films: usually, we’d flick straight past them, but for lack of anything else to watch last night, we thought we’d give it a shot. “Derailed” is story about love, lust and morality, with a healthy dose of action and drama thrown in. Clive Owen plays a man frustrated with his life, looking for something new. Cue Jennifer Aniston. After the two shack up in a cheap hotel, they are made to pay for their actions.

This movie had more twists and turns than the Playboy mansion – just when you started to get comfortable with it, something shocking happened. With solid performances from all the actors (including Xzibit and RZA from the Wu Tang Clan), “Derailed” delivers. Maybe not what it promises at the start, but it definitely gives you more than you bargained for.

What did we learn from this movie? Clive Owen is a few lessons short of conquering the American accent, and Jennifer Aniston appears to be a cheap date!
